Kicker check came!

December 8th, 2007 at 09:12 pm

My kicker check showed up in the mail today! And it was for $541. Sweet! it will make a nice addition to my saving account.

Every two years Oregon State kicks back to the taxpayers any budget overages more than 2% that were collected. The amount they kick back varies but in the past I don't think I've gotten more than $80.

They say this may be the last kicker for a while, I'm just going to enjoy the fact that I got one this year!

I read somewhere that 1200 checks were accidentally mailed early. The date on the check was effectively post dated. The date on my check is 12/6 so I know mine wasn't one of the early ones.

Yay for money! Smile

We just got ours too (yay Oregon!). Around $900. I was relieved DH wanted to tuck it away into our emergency savings, which was recently depleted. Now we're back up to our comfort level with the EF, and can start funding our other vehicles.

Wow. Oregon does this? Sweet. And no one can pump their own gas either. Double sweet.

Is there anyone else out there who has not received their kicker check. I am entitled, but, nothing yet.

My roommate's didn't show up until today because she had moved since she filed her taxes. I think you have to give them like 7 days before you can consider it completely lost.

imokbutru, I heard that most people should receive a check by December 15. If you don't get it by the end of this week, call the State next week!

Sigh. I got mine, too. And it came at a good time for me. And I'll spend it well.

But the reality is, it is totally ridiculous to be getting money back from a state where the schools are going steadily downhill, the roadways and bridges need work, we are accosted by the poor on every street corner, and we cannot take care of our mentally ill or our homeless population (often one and the same!) At least the corporate kicker was abolished.

    Grace - very true.

Also, I'm sort of grrring that I gave the State an interest-free loan, and that I'm grateful just to have the principal back! Kind of Orwellian sometimes...
